Iosu Aramburu: “Industria Nacional” opens at Galería Livia Benavides

06.11.2025

Iosu Aramburu’s exhibition “Industria Nacional” opens on Thursday, November 6, at Galería Livia Benavides. Curated by Anamaría Garzón, the show presents a series of paintings where layers of time and matter overlap, revealing an overlooked facet of artistic modernity—functional, informative, yet densely layered, fluid, and even kitsch.

In this series, Aramburu reimagines the past to shape the future. References to factories, mines, and plantations are reordered and superimposed, illustrating how natural resources and the human body are transformed into energy for the machinery of progress. The work reflects the ways modernity colonizes and dominates nature, reorganizing life under the logic of utility and extraction, presenting a vision of unyielding optimism and an industrial-national destiny—simultaneously dystopian and unsettling in the present.
