Jimena Chávez Delion’s “Stainless Bleeding” at WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels Residency

14.08.2025

As part of her residency at WIELS Contemporary Art Centre (Brussels) artist Jimena Chávez Delion presented Stainless Bleeding, a project that explores the feeling of rejection and exclusion in the city, and how it is inscribed on the body through hostile neoliberal architecture, urban furniture, and bureaucratic and linguistic barriers.

The project spans media such as sculpture, painting, text, installation, and video, and maps out a cartography of rejection—moving from systems of urban control to the conditions of one’s own body, from illegibility to bodily experience, from tears to their symbolic dimension.

Stainless Bleeding was supported by WIELS and SOFAM, and was selected for the 2025 production grants of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
