Sandra Gamarra Heshiki presents “Construcción de los hechos” at MAC Lima
25.07.2026 - 04.10.2026
Sandra Gamarra Heshiki presents “Construcción de los hechos” at MAC Lima, curated by Augusto del Valle. The exhibition brings together more than four hundred years of Peruvian history through paintings, photographs, ceramics, images, and installation, including works created in collaboration with southern Andean imagineros Rosalía Tineo and Darwin Límaco.
Drawing on recent civic protests in Peru (2022–2025) and historical references including the death of the Inca Atahualpa in 1532 and the costumbrista scenes of Pancho Fierro, Gamarra explores how historical narratives are constructed. Through archival research, quotation, and appropriation, she transforms the poetic into the historical and the visual into the political, tracing the enduring tension between past and present.
The exhibition is on view at MAC Lima through October 4.
